27th April 2018 – Normal Service Resumed

And…it’s back to being wet and cold. The hot few days we had last week are but a memory and it’s back to woolly jumpers, hot mugs of tea, and definitely no sun cream. Deep joy.

Still, the cold weather is a perfect time to work on crafts in advance of summer fayres. We’ve been very lucky at the Trust to have had the support of lots of talented people, whom have sold home-made goodies and donated their takings to our charity. Here’s a selection of their work:

Let us know if you’re knitting, sewing, baking, painting – anything home made that you are planning on taking to a craft fayre. We’d love to hear from you and would love to share some photos of what you’ve made 🙂

20th April 2018 – Next Half Marathon

It’s a bit hot, it’s icecream weather (in April!) but the Half Marathon Challenge in aid of the Trust continues. As you probably know, Bekki is running 12 Half Marathons this year to raise funds and takes part in Half Marathon No. 5 next month. She’s signed up to the Bosworth Half on 13th May – not long to go!

This time a special guest will join her – Andy Radcliffe, a great mate and long time supporter of the Trust, will trot alongside her for the 13 miles. He’s super fit but cycling is more his thing, so it’s going to be an interesting run! Andy took part in the Coast to Coast in 2015 and the London to Paris Challenge in 2017, and has been a brilliant fundraiser. He also dared Bekki to take on the challenge so this is her payback!

Looking forward to the next race – hopefully they’ll get a good time and drag each other along!

You can show your support for the Half Marathon Challenge at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/yearofhalfmarathons

The fundraising target is £2000 – that will cover 20 grants to families caring for children with metabolic conditions, helping to make their lives a little bit easier.

13th April 2018 – Food Preparation Grants

Morning all

We thought it would be good to blog about the Food Preparation Grants the Trust provides to families caring for children with metabolic conditions – they are one of our popular grants and we’ve been delighted to help families purchase essential kitchen equipment by awarding them.

Some children with metabolic conditions have to be on strict diets and meals may have to be prepared from scratch. Items such as a breadmaker, blender, mixer, icecream maker can make a real difference in the kitchen, and the Trust awards grants of up to £100 to help families purchase them.

You can read more on our website (www.campbellstrust.co.uk). It’s thanks to our epic fundraisers and supporters that we’re able to help families in this way, and the Trust is really pleased that the grants make a difference. So thank you!

31st March 2018 – Happy Easter

Apologies for the lack of a blog post yesterday. We had friends round for breakfast – there was tea, bacon, bagels, and much chat.

Hope you all have a wonderful long weekend with your families. The Burns kids have already smashed into their Easter eggs – here are 3 half-eaten chocolate bunnies (not for the faint hearted).

23rd March 2018 – Year Of Half Marathons

Some of you may be aware that Bekki from the Trust is doing a big running challenge this year and running 12 Half Marathons. Last week saw her run Half number 3 – the Loughborough Half is coming up on 8th April, and that will be number 4!

Training is going well, though the old bones are suffering a bit. It’s a bit of a battle on some days but regular doses of coffee and cake certainly help. Good to have running partners as well 😁

Here’s the Just Giving link. 3 down, 9 to go!
